Great Lake Script The holidays and holydays are over, but you can still buy script cards. You not only can fulfill your fundraising obligation, but can also earn money to be put toward next year’s tuition.  50% of the rebate you earn is applied to your fundraising assessment.  Once the $300 fundraising obligation is met, the remainder of your Great Lake Script rebate is applied to next year’s tuition.

Lower your Tuition Bill!  Here is just a reminder that one of our major goals is to increase enrollment.  The school board came up with this plan several years ago that can put money in your pocket and increase enrollment at the same time. $250 will be deducted from your tuition for any new family that you may get to enroll in Assumption School .  This program supersedes any other previous plan.

Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s),

It’s the end of the year and I wanted to offer a few gentle reminders.  Students who have medications at Assumption will need their parents to pick up the medication from the school office by Friday, June 18, 2010 .  Any remaining medications will need to be brought to the Manchester School Health Office to be destroyed.  Additionally,  a reminder that The State of CT mandates that students entering Pre-K, Kindergarten and 7th Grade must have a current physical on file with the school prior to starting school in the fall of 2010.

Please be advised, students will not be allowed to begin school without this information on file in their school health record.

Pre-K: Health Assessment Completed between Sept, 1, 2009 and Sept. 1, 2010

K:        Health Assessment Completed between Sept, 1, 2009 and Sept. 1, 2010

7:       Health Assessment completed between Jan 1st of 5th grade year and June of 6th grade.

A copy of the Health Assessment Record is available on the website: boe.townofmanchester.org under the Health Department link.  Students having difficulty obtaining a physical due to lack of medical insurance should contact the Husky Plan toll free at 1-877-284-8759.  Please feel free to call 860 649-0889 with any questions and I hope you and your family have a wonderful summerJ !

Blessings,

Volunteer Opportunities

2010- 2011 School Year

The Sports Committee is looking for new members for the 2010-11 school year. There is a lot to do and it is a great way to accumulate volunteer hours. Please contact the school office or Kim Skahan, skahan@snet.net, 860-690-3363.

East Campus – We are looking for volunteers to help out at the upper campus at St. Bartholomew’s to answer the phone and the doorbell so that the teachers do not have to leave their classes.  Volunteers can also help by running off copies for the teachers or to assist them other various activities.

We are looking for parents and or grandparents to help starting at 8 a.m. until 12 noon.  Grandparents or other relatives who work will receive the volunteer hours for their families.

Hot Lunch Delivery - Each day throughout the year the East Campus receives the hot lunch from the Buckley School cafeteria.  We look for parent volunteers to help pick up the lunch at Buckley and bring it to St. Bartholomew’s, serve, clean up, and return the items to Buckley.

This takes about 90 minutes from pickup to return delivery.  Lunch is usually picked up around 10:45 a.m. at Buckley and completed no later than 12 noon.  Since some of the containers are heavy we will be having two students help to carry the food into the cafeteria and return them to the car.

Summer Help!  During the summer months we are hoping to prepare our library for the students return in September.  Amy Davis is looking for volunteers to help her go through the books in the library, remove those that are old, torn, and not appropriate for our students.  There are also boxes of new books that need to be put on the shelves.  If anyone would like to start their volunteer hours this summer please call the school office @ 860-649-0889 or reply by email to:  mouellette@assumptionschoolct.com.

Amy Davis has also volunteered to be the librarian next year but I would like another volunteer or two to help on Fridays by helping the children pick out and return books, as well as walking them from their classroom to the library.

If anyone is interested in helping with the sports please email Kim Skahan  @skahan@snet.net

and for the any other opportunities call the school office @ 860- 649-0889 or email me @

mouellette@assumptionschoolct.com.

Here is a big THANK YOU in advance!
