“Learners
today….Leaders tomorrow”
September 8th Birthday of Our Blessed Mother!
September 8,
2010
Volume
XII, Number 01
Bingo Team for
September 14th Sixth
Grade Parents
Parent Orientation – The upper campus teachers will be presenting the Orientation at 6:30 p.m. tomorrow evening at the St. Bartholomew campus. These meetings will give you the opportunity to see what expectations the teachers have for your children as well as the educational goals for the school year. You may also ask for any clarifications of information brought home by your child.
East
Campus Lunch – I am looking for a volunteer or two to deliver the hot lunch to the
East Campus on Tuesdays this year. We
have been blessed with volunteers coming to help with the serving of the
lunches at the upper campus. All
of the days are accounted for except for Tuesday. If you feel you have the
time and would like to pick this up and apply it toward your volunteer
hours, please call Kathy at the school office.
Thank you, 860-649-0889

Lower your Tuition Bill!
Here is just a reminder that one of our major goals is to increase
enrollment. The school board
came up with this plan several years ago that can put money in your pocket
and increase enrollment at the same time. $250 will be deducted from your
tuition for any new family that you may get to enroll in
Save the Date: Comedy Night – Don’t miss out on another great
evening of fun and laughter on Saturday, October 16th at the
Irish Club in
*****************************************
Come with friends and fellow parents to enjoy warm friendships and laugh
together. Reserve your table
now. The more the merrier. The
teachers will also be there with their families waiting to share the fun
with you. Let us see who can
outdo whom with delicious appetizers.
Watch out, you know these teachers – they might try to sneak one
of your goodies. Be on the lookout. There
is nothing better than good friends, good wine, good food and a good
laugh. And don’t we all
deserve it! Please
note that due to the full house last year the Irish Club is only allowing
200 guests into the Club. Please
be sure to purchase your tickets soon if you plan on joining in this
evening of fun!
Please
Note - The Hot Lunch Program
will be offering lactaid milk as an extra milk option and bottled water
for 50cents.
Water
Bottles – We are asking that
the students do not bring in water bottles to be used throughout the day.
The weather has cooled down and the water bottles are not
necessary. There is a water
cooler right outside the classrooms that the teachers allow the students
to use. The water bottles are
coming in with frozen water which melts and causes water to form on the
desks, it is also a distraction with some students constantly sipping
throughout the day. If for any reason your child needs to have water
constantly please call the school office. @ 860-649-0889.
Gym
Uniforms:
All students grades K – 8 require a proper gym uniform.
Gym uniform orders will be placed tomorrow, September 9th.
If you require a gym uniform, please send in your order form
tomorrow with payment. Gym uniform order forms are also available at the
school office.
PS.
Payment will be expected upon placement of each order.
Credit Card payments are no longer accepted.
Home
Room Moms or Dads –
We are looking for one or two volunteers per classroom to be the
homeroom helpers. As a Home
Room Mom or Dad you would check with the teacher to see what new and
exciting things may be happening in the classroom or any help the teacher
may need within the classroom. It is not just for seasonal activities.
Please call 860-649-0889 if you can help with this project.
School
Fundraiser – Here we go
again…a new school year with our first fundraiser of the season.
Your child should be bringing home the Jeannine fundraising packet
today. You will find many
things in the Gift-Wrap Fundraiser booklet.
Please follow all of the directions on the cover sheet and return
your orders to the school by Wednesday, September 22nd.
Remember all orders taken count toward your yearly fundraiser goal.
If you should have any questions please call Liz Barry
860-649-0880. Orders can also
be placed online. www.jeannine.biz
VIRTUS
Training - If there are any new
parents who plan to volunteer at the school this year for any reason:
homeroom parent, coaches, volunteers and classroom volunteers, you
need to attend a Virtus training offered and required by the Office of
Catholic Schools. Training
sessions can be scheduled here with Sr. Colleen Doyle on a specific
evening. If you are interested
in being a volunteer and need this training please call the school office
so we can contact Sister and set up a program.

Homework Help – Once again this year
the teachers in Kindergarten through Grade 8 will be posting your
child’s homework on the “Wikispaces”, to review this information
just follow these simple directions:
http://assumptionschoolct.wikispaces.com
Go to the website above and click your
child’s grade. You should find each teacher's information. Just
another way to keep you informed on your child's education!
We
are also looking for volunteers
for the following: 1) a parent to come in to the office on Tuesdays and
Thursdays to run off copies for the teachers. This will save the teachers
a great deal of preparation time. 2) A parent to cover the office from
12noon – 12:30 p.m. to allow Kathy Melody to break for lunch, and 3)
Volunteers at the upper campus to answer the telephone and help teachers
with copies and other small projects.
If anyone is interested in any of these roles please email me or
call the school office @860-649-0889.
E
