At Assumption School we serve lunch daily. Each student will receive a monthly lunch menu showing the main entree and the alternative choices offered that day. A complete lunch includes 1 entree, 2 different side dishes and milk. Students are required to preorder their lunches in the morning in the classroom. The side dishes we offer include fruit, vegetables, and a variety of milk. In addition to our main entree we offer a bagel plate. Pizza is served every Friday.
Cold lunch students may purchase milk as well (milk is included in the price of hot lunch) for 40 cents. Water is also available for purchase for 50 cents. Milk and water money is collected in the cafeteria and is not pre-paid.
The price of lunch remains at $1.75 for students at the main campus (grades Pre-K through 5), and $2.00 for the East Campus (grades 6 through 8). Teachers and visiting adults pay $2.50. All visiting adults are asked to call in their lunch orders before 10:00 a.m. in the school office. If your student will be late to school but intends to order lunch, their order must be called into the school by 10 a.m. Students at both campuses will order lunch once per month. Menus will be sent home with an order form attached. Please keep the menu as a "receipt" and send the order form in with your payment to the cafeteria. We strongly encourage you to pay by check, although cash will be accepted. Please place the monthly lunch order in an envelope marked with the students name and grade. Please note "Cafeteria" on the envelope and PLEASE do not combine lunch payment with any other payments due to the school (such as Homework Club, After Care). You may combine more than one student's lunch order in one check, however, there must be an order form for each student. Checks should be made payable to Manchester Public Schools or MPS.
If you believe your child is eligible for Free and Reduced Priced Meals, please fill out the application for Free and Reduced Priced Meals that is sent home with every student. Please return in an envelope marked "Confidential Lunch Application". This application will be forwarded to the Town of Manchester Food and Nutrition Office, which will determine whether or not you qualify. That office will contact you with the results of your application. If you receive aid from the State of Connecticut, please submit your letter verifying that your child is entitled to free meals. If you have this letter, you do not need to fill out an application.
Hot lunch costs $1.75 for students in grades Pre-K through 5, $2.00 for students in grades 6 - 8, $2.25 for adults. Milk is available for purchase for $.40 and water is available for $.50.
Milk may be purchased separately for $.40. Water may be purchased separately for $.50. Milk and water are to be purchased by cash on a daily basis, not paid in advance.
If you provide your child's lunch from home, please include napkins and the necessary utensils they will need, as well as condiments. Napkins and utensils are not provided from the cafeteria unless you have paid for school lunch. Please do not send your child in with a lunch that requires heating, as we do not provide that service for students. Please be careful and considerate of students with food allergies. The school nurse will advise parents if there is a food allergic child in the classroom.
