Dear Parents,

We had a very busy first week of school.  The KinderBears are doing a great job listening and getting to know one another.  We have been learning each other’s names as well as the rules of the school and classroom.

They traveled to the jungle each day.  We filled our days with songs, art activities, stories and cooking.  The children had a puppet show with jungle animals.   They played animal charades and “The Jungle We Will Go.”  We made lion cups filled with goodies, pictures with jungle animals, bags with jungle print letters and colored many jungle animals.  We went on a safari hunt finding jungle animals.  We also enjoyed a yummy chocolate fountain by dipping animal cookies in the chocolate after naming each one.  We decorated cakes like a tiger.  We used finger puppets to discuss facts about jungle animals.

We will be re-visiting the jungle again this week.  We look forward to beginning the letterbooks, math books, and religion lessons next week.  The children are still learning the routine and rules of the classroom this week.

Just a few reminders:  Please remember to purchase lunch tickets on Thursdays only.  Your child may not purchase lunch daily.  Milk is available for thirty five cents to students bringing their lunch.  It is helpful to put the money in a small container in the lunch box so your child can use it to buy milk at lunch if he/she so chooses. Also, please remember to send your child with one snack in a small paper bag labeled with his/her name.

The children learn independence this year so it is important to remind them to give us any papers, envelopes, notes etc in the morning.  Please check your child’s bag each night and remove any papers they bring home to you.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns please let us know.  Thanks for your help and support.  We look forward to working with you and your child this year.

                                                                        Sincerely,

                                                                                    Mrs. Mary Mitchell

                                                                                    Mrs. Liz Barry
