Thank you for considering entrusting your child’s education to Assumption School. Our dedicated faculty and staff work in partnership with parents to ensure that children receive a well-rounded education, establish a strong academic foundation, and grow intellectually, spiritually and socially.
We know that educational decisions, which parents make for their children, aren’t easy. That’s why we offer school tours and the opportunity for students to visit our school and sit in on classes for a day. Our Parent Ambassadors are available to share their experience with you and our principal, Mrs. Marguerite Ouellette, is also available to answer questions that you have.
To schedule a tour, visit, or for additional information about Assumption School, contact Mrs. Marguerite Ouellette at 860-649-0889 or click here to send an electronic message.
At Assumption School, we welcome children and families of all faiths and ethnicities. Our culturally diverse student body enriches the educational experiences both inside and outside our classrooms.

Assumption School, an integral part of the diverse Roman Catholic family of Assumption, is dedicated to guiding and educating children, grades Pre-K through 8, in the Gospel message, nurturing a lifelong relationship with Jesus Christ. Through its warm and supportive environment, the Assumption School staff partners with parents to provide a strong academic program with an equally important emphasis on the spiritual and moral development of the students it serves from the greater Hartford area. Assumption School, through its commitment to cultivating a Catholic culture of community service and worship, embraces each person regardless of race, religion or social status.
Philosophy
Assumption School recognizes our three-fold task of message, community, and service. We spread the Gospel message to live as Christ lived through word and deed, guiding each child to an appreciation of his/her special qualities as a child of God. We strive to facilitate each child’s emotional, intellectual, social, physical, and spiritual development in the light of the teachings of Jesus. Each child is helped to nurture a positive self-image and develop self-discipline in all areas of his/her education. The administration, faculty, and staff strive to provide a well-rounded education in the setting of a Catholic community. Parents and students round out this community. Teachers offer a challenging, quality academic program, teaching traditional basic skills with a contemporary approach and integrating Christian values into the learning process. Students assume their responsibility to learn and develop to their fullest potential.
Teachers and students are called upon to be witnesses to Christ in the integration of religious truths and values in daily life and to incorporate the ideal of Christian service within and beyond our school community. Teachers actively participate in the spiritual and academic growth of the school. Students are provided an education intended to prepare them for time.
